Invalides
O imponente Hôtel des Invalides, que dá nome à área, foi construído entre 1671 e 1676 por Luís XIV para alojar os seus veteranos feridos e desabrigados, e também como um monumento à sua própria glória. No centro destaca-se o resplandecente tecto dourado do Dome, do Rei-Sol, onde estão os restos mortais de Napoleão Bonaparte. O corpo do imperador foi transferido de Santa Helena para lá em 1840, 19 anos após a sua morte, e colocado dentro de um majestoso sarcófago vermelho desenhado por Joachim Visconti, que fica no centro da cripta circular e de recto envidraçado da Dome. O complexo inclui o Musée de LArmée que mostra a história militar da França, da Idade da Pedra à Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Invalides
Les Invalides in Paris, France, is a complex of buildings in the city's 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building's original purpose. The buildings house the Musée de l'Armée, the military museum of the Army of France, the Musée des Plans-Reliefs, and the Musée d'Histoire Contemporaine, as well as the burial site for some of France's war heroes.

Paris is the capital of France and the country's largest city. It is situated on the river Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region.
