Team Chevy/Jeg Coughlin/Post-Qualifying/NHRA Dallas
ENNIS, Tex., Sept. 20, 2008 Team Chevy's Jeg Coughlin captured his second No. 1 qualifying award of 2008 after driving his Jegs Mail Order Chevy Cobalt to a Pro Stock leading 6.631 seconds at 207.56 mph. Coughlin posted his time on Friday and the run held up through two additional rounds of time trials on Saturday.
It was the 14th career raceday pole for the 38-year-old Columbus, Ohio native and his third at the Texas Motorplex (2000, 2004, 2008). Coughlin was also No. 1 qualifier earlier this season at Chicago. The Jegs Chevy Cobalt posted the quickest e.t. in three of the four qualifying sessions including today's last session.
The defending POWERade Pro Stock champion entered this weekend's O'Reilly Fall Nationals third in the POWERade standings, 31 points behind first-place Kurt Johnson and 16 points behind second-place Greg Anderson. Coughlin has won two national events this year (Gainesville, Reading) and advanced to five final rounds. He is also a former winner at the Texas Motorplex (2002).
