Bike Banditz - Doujin Review
15th Review.A superbly put together shmup from the company French Bread.The first thing that strikes you when playing this game is the presentation.From the great animated (and sang) opening to the selection menus ,everything is perfect.Youre given a selection of 3 different characters to play (Note:one negative point, they are all pretty much similar).The levels are truly gorgeous, ranging from deserts,futuristic cities to huge spaceships.Although they look a bit like Flash graphics, the attention to details is breathtaking,everything is crisp and colourful.The levels are split up by a mid level boss.Bosses and enemies alike are really original,relatively varied and very well animated.You have at your disposal 2 main weapons (also bombs/missiles), one normal shot,and an option that you can postion around your bike/ship in order to aim at enemies coming from the back, top or bottom.Behind its cute appearance, the game is hard.As with many shmups, it starts slow, but you soon get into situations where the screen is completely overrun with bullets.Not for the fainthearted.In all, a Doujin that can put some commercial releases to shame.It is probably with Trouble Witches the most beautiful Doujin to date.You owe it to yourself to get a copy.
