The City of Angels-A Jonas Story Chapter 28

Chapter 28-
Kevin's jeep pulled up to the studio. The boys walked inside and were greeted by the lady at the front desk. She told them what studio John was waiting for them in and they headed in that direction. They were walking in, when Joe got a call on his cell phone. He looked down and saw the number. His brothers saw his face go from happy to furious. They left Joe in the hallway to talk to whoever was calling him.
"Are you kidding me?", Joe somewhat yelled to the person on the other line.
"Joe, please just listen to me", Leah said.
"Why should I?", Joe yelled some more.
"Because I am so sorry. If I had known that", Leah was saying before Joe cut her off.
"It wouldn't have been enough. You never should have done that", Joe said. Leah was shocked. How dare he place the blame only on her.
"If I had known she was standing behind you I never would have said anything, but you can't blame the kiss only on me. If I remember correctly you kissed me back", Leah said. Joe sighed.
"I'm sorry. It's just frustrating", Joe said.
"Let me make it up to you", Leah said.
"That's not a good idea. I don't think I should be around you", Joe said.
"Please Joe. I feel like crap. I just want us to be friends", Leah said. Joe sighed. He thought about how Sam would feel. He knew she wouldn't like it, but they weren't dating and it seemed like that was never going to change. As much as he wanted to be with her, she didn't feel that way anymore and it was hurting him inside. Maybe, what he needed was a new friend, but just a friend. He knew he wasn't ready to move on. He still loved Sam.
"As friends?", Joe said.
"That's all I want", Leah said.
"Ok. So, what did you want to do?", Joe asked her.
"Well, I know you can't go in public, so maybe dinner at my place?", Leah asked.
"Yeah, that's best. I wouldn't want any rumors started", Joe said.
"Ok, tomorrow", Leah said.
"Ok", Joe said hanging up his phone. He sighed before he walked into the studio. He knew he couldn't tell his brothers. They couldn't keep him from going, but they could tell Sam and that would be the worst. Even though, he owed her no explanation, he was going to tell her that he was going to hang out with Leah, but on his own time. He wasn't going to let his brothers beat him to the punch. He opened the door and his brothers looked up at him. He shook his head no before they could dive into a million questions. His attention then automatically focused on John Fields, their producer.
"Joseph, you're brothers were telling me you wanted to lay down a new song today?", John asked.
"Yeah, it's about still being in love with someone after a break-up. Kind of like Still in Love With You, only it's a ballad, more Hello Beautiful", Joe explained.
"Ok, well lets hear it", John said. The boys got their guitars and played him the song that Joe had written for Sam. John smiled as he heard the lyrics. The boys were glad. It was the first song they had written that could potentially be on their new CD. They were happy to be starting it off good. They finished they last note and John clapped.
"I like it boys. Let's lay it down and see what we can do with it. Joe, let me ask you a question?", John said. Joe looked up at him. "Do you want to add drums or do you want to keep it acoustic?".
"Let's keep it acoustic and very clean", Joe said. John smiled and shook his head. He thought it was perfect just the way it was also. Nick headed in to the studio and laid down his part first. It took a couple times to get it perfect, but of course Nick did. Kevin went and laid in his background vocals. Finally, when Joe headed into the studio he hit it right the first time. He sang the song with so much emotion, that he really couldn't get it wrong. They talked more about the direction of the album and then head home. In the car was the time Joe was most afraid of.
"So, who called you?", Nick asked.
"I have no clue. It was a private call", Joe said.
"People don't get mad over private calls", Nick said. Joe sighed.
"Are we going over to the girl's house? I kind of need to talk to Sam", Joe said. The boys drove towards the girl's house. Joe thought about how he was going to tell Sam the whole ride there.
