Love Me For Me... chapter 1 [Typical School Days..]
Monday. I was so not in the mood for school. But again, who EVER is? I got up and got ready. I put on black shorts, gray leggings, black converse, a gray stamped t-shirt with the words "Rock & Roll" on it and a small black vest. I straightened my hair bangs, covering one of my eyes and went down to the dining room to find Ian and Emma having breakfast. My mom and my dad had already left for the airport. They had to travel to our other hotel in Paris.
"Mornin" I said with a yawn.
"Hey, Jay" answered Ian.
"Hey, sis" said Emma, "have you seen my Jonas Brother's album?"
"I think I saw it in the living room" said Ian, eating toast.
"What's it doing there?!?!?" Emma got up, leaving her sandwich half eaten, and ran into the living room. When she came back, she was kissing the cage.
"You're such a freak!" I laughed.
"Yeah? we'll see what YOU do if your Switchfoot album gets lost!" groaned Emma sitting back at the table.
"Ok! Chill Em! Gosh I was kidding! I didn't put your album there so don't mess with mine!" Emma is really nice, but can get really upset if it's the Jonas Brothers we're talking about. And let's not even mention who I GET when someone messes with my Switchfoot album. Switchfoot is a Christian rock band that makes my world keep going. Their songs help me through all the rough times, and also good times.
We all went back to our rooms and finished getting ready. We got in Ian's Chrysler and drove to school. When we got there, we were almost late. The three of us went our separate ways, saying we would see each other at lunch. The day went on and at lunch time, I was sitting at my usual table with Mitchie, Lucy, Emma, some guys from the football team, Ian, and some other girls from the cheerleading team.
"We have to practice for Saturday's big game" said Lana, one of my co-cheerleaders.
"I know. We are meeting up after school" I answered, looking at my food and kinda playing with it with my fork. Suddenly, Mitchie elbowed me.
"Look who's coming!" I looked up. Ned, the cutest quarterback in the school was coming to our table. He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back and looked down at my food again, playing with the pasta.
"Hey Jay!" he said. I looked up at him again and just melted. He was really cute. Hazel eyes, brown shiny hair, a smile that could be easily rated the best of the year.
"Hey Ned" I smiled.
"Wanna go out tonight?" he said, sitting next to Ian, who kept looking at him, with some sort of brotherly jealousy expressed in his face. I laughed inside. My brother was so great! I didn't look at Ned though, I just smiled at my brother's expression and looked around the cafeteria from where I was sitting. Ned and I were just casual friends, and he was kind of a jerk. He wanted to go out with me because of who I am. Not the way I am, but because of my last name. Pretty lame, I gotta say. Instead of being sweet with me, he would always say stuff like "You're hot" and he would always sneak in comments about my heritage and money.
"Can't, sorry. I have after school cheerleading practice and then guitar lessons"
"No you don't!" interrupted Emma, "guitar lessons are---"
I stomped on her foot under the table so that she would just shut up. I didn't want to go out with Ned. He was gorgeous, that's for sure, really nice and cool, and every single girl in the school wished they could have been me in that moment, because they all love him, but I really knew what he was all about. He liked being seen with me, like I was some kind of trophy, but he didn't even know me that well.
"Oh... guitar lessons? Why is it always about the music with you?" he asked, lifting an eyebrow. I finally looked at him in the eyes. I was getting pissed.
"You got a problem with my music, Ned?" I asked, calmly.
"No... but I think your priorities are kinda messed up" he answered. That proves who he really is: a jerk. He seemed kind of proud about what he had just said.
"Then you can leave the way you came" I concluded, taking my tray to the stand. Everyone was kinda speechless after that. But hey, that's the way I am. No one can push me around. The whole group hanged out during lunch, including Ned, and everyone kept whispering to me, asking why I wouldn't go out with him. All I would answer was "because..." and keep doing whatever I was doing.
